Case Study
Power generation on the west coast of Scotland
Following a pre-feasibility study this project set up an in house and consultant team to undertake the preparation and implementation. Preparations included planning permission, power take off agreement, arrangements to meet the legislation, design and engineering. The civil construction and ultimate connection of the power facility commenced in December 2006 and was completed and up and running in December 2008.
The facility, which was estimated to cost less than £800,000 now operates a 480kw generator estimated to produce 1,700 Kwh per annum. Revenue being generated through the scheme is over £200,000 per annum, which includes carbon credits amounting to £80k per annum.
Income streams of each project will be dictated by market forces and can go up and down but in the present environment and economic climate the directors of Running River plc feel confident that the experience at this case study and its projected results will be mirrored with future developments carried out by Running River.
